An alternative to
LASIK Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT)
In the past, correcting myopia near-sighted ness required
contact lenses, glasses, or refractive surgery (LASIK).
Now there is a new FDA approved, non-surgical method of wearing
special contact lenses during sleep that eliminates the need for
contacts or glasses during the day. This new therapy is approved for
all patients 12 and older. If you or a family member suffers from
near-sightedness, and would prefer not to wear contacts or glasses
during the day, this non-invasive Corneal Refractive Therapy might
be an excellent alternative to refractive surgery.
Often, working in dusty conditions, extensive computer use, or
playing sports make contact or glasses less than ideal solutions to
myopia. The opportunity this new therapy offers for freedom from
daytime sight correction can be significant.
Ths therapy is also called are Orthokeratology Ortho-K, and
Overnight Vision Correction. Some brand names you may have heard of
include Emerald, DreamLens, Wake and See, GOV, and i-GO GOV.
Call us to schedule an exam and
consultation to see if this new FDA approved therapy is right for
you.

What is included in my yearly eye health and
vision status exam?
Your annual eye exam includes evaluation for cataracts, glaucoma,
macular degeneration, and other diseases of the eye, as well as
vision tests to see if corrective lenses are needed. If, in
addition, you are being evaluated for contact lenses, this is often
done in the same visit as your regular exam, but it is a different
clinic service requiring different assessments, and thus carries an
additional cost. |
What to do in an eye injury medical emergency
Call 911 or visit the emergency room first.
Then make an appointment with the Family EyeCare Clinic for
after-care and evaluation! It's important to have your eyes
checked for further damage, even if your pain goes away.
